FAQ
What is Kankan?
Kankan turns a LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro or iPad Pro into a feng-shui compass. Scan a room to build an accurate floor plan, watch the luopan ring lock to true north over the live camera view, then tap any wall for its direction reading — what suits it and what to avoid.
Which devices does Kankan support?
A LiDAR-equipped device running iOS 26 or later: any iPhone Pro, or an iPad Pro from 2020 onwards. Devices without LiDAR can't run the AR room scan — the app tells you so up front instead of failing silently.
My device has no LiDAR. Can I still use Kankan?
You can import an existing floor plan (an image or PDF) and read directions from the 2D plan viewer — no scan needed. The full AR experience still requires LiDAR.
Why true north instead of magnetic north?
Indoors, magnetic compasses drift — steel, wiring, and furniture pull the needle. Kankan combines your location with AR tracking to lock onto true north, the reference direction readings are meant to use. On Wi-Fi-only iPads without GPS, Kankan falls back to magnetic north and shows a badge saying so.
The compass looks off. What can I do?
Rotate your device in a figure-eight to recalibrate, and move near a window if Kankan is waiting for a positioning signal. If a consistent bias remains, Settings has a heading-offset dial — one global offset for your device's compass bias, plus a per-space offset.
How do I scan a room?
Allow camera and location access, then walk the room's perimeter holding your device — Kankan builds the floor plan as you go. Tap “Finish Scan”, then tap any wall, corner, door, or window on the plan for its direction reading.
Why can't Kankan find my saved space?
Reopening a space on-site relies on ARKit recognizing the room, and changed lighting or moved furniture can break that. Stand at the marked spot, pan slowly, and give it a moment — on a new device the first relocalization takes longer. You can always view the floor plan without AR, or start a fresh scan.
Do I need an account?
No. Sign-in (Apple or Google) is optional — tap “Maybe later” and the full scanning flow works without one. An account exists only to sync your subscription across devices.
Where are my scans stored?
On your device — and, if you enable iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage. Room scans, floor plans, and readings never reach our servers; we cannot see them. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Does Kankan track me?
The app sends a small, fixed set of anonymous product events (like “first scan saved”) tied to a random device ID — never your scans, readings, or location. Turn it off anytime in Settings → Privacy → Share analytics. No ads, no third-party tracking.
Why does Kankan ask for my birth date?
It's optional. Add it and readings are personalized to you; skip it with “Not now” and everything else works. It's stored on your device, and synced to your account only if you sign in.
What is Kankan VIP?
An auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the full reading experience: each wall's do's and don'ts, flying-star guidance that refreshes monthly, unlimited scans, floor-plan import, one-tap PDF and image export, and two readings by a real consultant. Billing is handled by the App Store, and the yearly plan includes a free trial. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
What are Flying Stars?
A classical time-based layer over your floor plan: each direction carries annual and monthly stars with their own guidance — good for money matters, avoid renovation, and so on. Stars shift on a monthly cycle, and Kankan can notify you when the new month's chart lands.
Which languages does Kankan speak?
English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and Malay.
