Privacy Policy

Version 1.2 · Effective 24 July 2026

This Privacy Policy (this "Policy") describes how 6REN PTE. LTD., a company incorporated in Singapore with its registered address at 150 Changi Road, #03-05 Guthrie Building, Singapore 419973 ("6REN", "we", "us", "our"), handles personal data in connection with the Kankan (看看) iOS application (the "App") and the kankan.camera website (together, the "Service"). Kankan — Better Life From Home (好家好生活) — is an app for LiDAR-equipped iPhone and iPad models.

The short version: Kankan is built so that your home never leaves your hands. Room scans, floor plans, and readings are processed and stored on your device — and, if you enable iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage — not on our servers. We cannot see them.

1. At a glance

  • Room scans, floor plans, AR data, and readings stay on your device and your private iCloud. They are never sent to us or anyone else.
  • Your location is used only to determine true north for the compass. It is never stored and never leaves your device.
  • The App contains no advertising, no advertising trackers, and no session recording. Analytics is limited to a handful of product events tied to a random device identifier — never your scans, location, or identity. We do not sell or share personal data.
  • An account is optional. If you create one, we collect only your email address, name, and basic preferences, to sync your subscription — plus your birth date, if you choose to add it for personalized readings.
  • You can delete your account and its data at any time inside the App (Settings → Account → Delete Account).

2. Who we are

2.1 The data controller for the personal data described in this Policy is 6REN PTE. LTD., 150 Changi Road, #03-05 Guthrie Building, Singapore 419973.

2.2 For anything in this Policy, contact [email protected].

3. Data that never leaves your device

3.1 The core of Kankan runs entirely on your device. The following are processed on-device only and are never transmitted to 6REN or to any third-party service:

  • Camera frames used to render the AR view.
  • LiDAR and room-geometry data, room scans, and the 3D models built from them.
  • AR world maps and re-localization photos used to reopen a saved space.
  • Floor-plan images or PDFs you import.
  • Space tags, readings, and analysis results. Readings are generated by a deterministic rule engine on your device; no scan or reading data is sent to us or to any AI service.
  • Motion-sensor data used to track device orientation.
  • Your location and compass heading, read transiently to compute true north. Location is not stored, not logged, and not transmitted.

3.2 If you are signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive enabled, your saved spaces are stored in a private iCloud container attached to your own Apple ID (iCloud.6ren.kankan). That storage is provided by Apple under your agreement with Apple; 6REN has no access to it and holds no keys to it. If iCloud is unavailable, spaces are stored locally on your device instead.

3.3 You can use Kankan without creating an account. In that case, we collect no account data — only the technical service logs, the analytics events, and, if you purchase VIP, the subscription data described in Section 4. The App ships with no crash-reporting SDK.

4. Data we collect

4.1 We collect personal data only in the following situations:

  • Account (optional). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive and store: your email address (Apple's "Hide My Email" relay addresses work fine), the display name provided by the sign-in provider, a random user ID, your language and compass-display preferences, and the timestamp of your acceptance of our Terms of Service.
  • Subscription. If you purchase Kankan VIP, our subscription processor RevenueCat receives your user ID (or an anonymous ID if you are not signed in) together with the App Store transaction state: product identifier, purchase and expiry dates, and store. Payment itself is processed entirely by Apple — we never receive your card, bank, or billing details.
  • Birth date (optional). If you choose to add your birth date — and, optionally, your birth time — for personalized readings, it is stored on your device. If you are signed in, it is also synced to your account so your readings stay personalized across your devices. You can skip this entirely; every other feature works without it.
  • Support. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
  • Analytics. The App sends a small, fixed set of product events (such as first scan saved, paywall viewed, purchase completed) to our analytics processor PostHog, tied to a random device identifier — not your name or email. Events carry no advertising identifier, no location (IP-based geolocation lookup is disabled), and no scan or reading content; screen autocapture and session recording are off. RevenueCat's subscription events are associated with the same device identifier so we can see which features lead to purchases. You can turn analytics off at any time in the App (Settings → Privacy → Share analytics).
  • Service logs. When the App communicates with our account or subscription infrastructure, or when you visit kankan.camera, the receiving servers automatically log basic technical data — your IP address, device type and operating system, timestamps, and request metadata — as is standard for any internet service. These logs are used only for security, debugging, and abuse prevention, and are kept only for a short period (see Section 9).

4.2 Beyond the optional birth information described above, we do not collect biographical data, contacts, photos (beyond floor plans you import, which stay on-device), advertising identifiers, or precise location.

5. How we use data, and on what legal basis

5.1 We use the data described in Section 4 for the following purposes and on the following legal bases:

  • To provide your account and sync your subscription entitlement across your devices — necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To respond to support requests — our legitimate interest in operating the Service, and performance of our contract.
  • To understand how the App's features are used and improve them, via the analytics events described in Section 4 — our legitimate interest in improving the Service.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse of subscriptions — our legitimate interest.
  • To comply with legal obligations, such as tax and accounting rules or valid legal requests — legal obligation.

5.2 We do not use your data for advertising, we do not build advertising or marketing profiles, and we make no automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

6. Who we share data with

6.1 We share personal data only with the service providers needed to run the Service, acting on our documented instructions:

  • Apple — Sign in with Apple, App Store payments, and iCloud storage of your spaces (under your own Apple ID).
  • Google — Sign in with Google, if you choose it.
  • Supabase — hosting of our authentication and account database.
  • RevenueCat — subscription state management, as described in Section 4.
  • PostHog — product analytics processing, as described in Section 4.
  • Vercel — hosting of the kankan.camera website and its cookieless aggregate analytics.
  • Our business email provider — processing of support emails you send us.

6.2 We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

6.3 We may disclose data if required by law or valid legal process. If 6REN is involved in a merger or acquisition, personal data may transfer to the successor under this same Policy; we would notify you first.

7. The website

7.1 kankan.camera uses Vercel Analytics, a cookieless, aggregate measurement tool. It gives us page-level visit counts and does not identify or track individual visitors across sites.

7.2 Because the website does not track visitors, browser "Do Not Track" and Global Privacy Control signals make no difference to how it behaves — there is no tracking to opt out of.

8. International transfers

8.1 We are a Singapore company, and our service providers process data on infrastructure that may be located outside your country, including the United States. Where the GDPR or similar laws apply to a transfer, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses entered into with our providers.

9. Retention and deletion

9.1 Account data is kept until you delete your account. Deleting your account in the App (Settings → Account → Delete Account) permanently erases your profile and subscription records from our systems.

9.2 On-device and iCloud data is under your control: delete individual spaces in the App, or remove the App and its iCloud data from your device and iCloud settings.

9.3 Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — cancel it in your device's Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Apple and RevenueCat retain transaction records under their own legal obligations, and we may retain minimal records where the law requires it.

9.4 Support emails are kept as long as needed to handle the request and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of follow-up, then deleted.

9.5 Service logs described in Section 4 are retained only as long as needed for security and debugging, then deleted or anonymized.

9.6 Analytics events are associated only with the random device identifier and are retained only as long as needed for product analysis.

10. Your rights

10.1 Depending on where you live — including under Singapore's PDPA, the EU/UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, Japan's APPI, Korea's PIPA, and Malaysia's PDPA — you have rights to access, correct, delete, and receive a copy of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

10.2 You can exercise most of these directly: the account data we hold about you is visible in the App's account screen, and deletion is self-service. For anything else, email [email protected]; we will verify the request against your signed-in account and respond within the time your local law requires.

10.3 You will not be discriminated against for exercising any right.

10.4 You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in Singapore, the PDPC; in the EEA/UK, your supervisory authority. In California, note that we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as the CCPA defines those terms.

11. Children

11.1 Kankan is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 (or the higher minimum age your local law sets for consenting to data processing). If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Security

12.1 Account data is transmitted over TLS and stored with row-level access controls so that each account can only ever read its own records. Sign-in uses Apple's and Google's token-based systems — we never see or store passwords.

12.2 No system is perfectly secure, but the most sensitive data Kankan works with — your home — never reaches our systems at all.

12.3 If a data breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities where the law requires it — in Singapore, under the PDPA's mandatory data-breach notification regime.

13. Commitments about future features

13.1 Features we may add later are deliberately constrained here in advance:

  • Cloud or AI-assisted readings. If we ever offer readings processed off-device, scan-derived data will be sent only when you explicitly trigger that feature, with clear in-app disclosure at the moment of use, and this Policy will be updated before it ships. Nothing will be uploaded in the background.
  • Live consultation services. If we offer one-to-one consultations with human advisors, the information you choose to share for a session — such as messages, photos, floor plans, or scans — will be transmitted to your advisor only when you book or take part in a session, with clear disclosure at the time. Nothing is shared in the background, and this Policy will be updated with full details before the feature launches.

14. Changes to this Policy

14.1 We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date above. For material changes, we will also notify you in the App before the change takes effect.
